Staging

Nature rearranged, flowers set in an artificial fashion,

Bright colors striking, capturing your attention,

Fragrant news and mesmerizing thoughts

Are attracting your focus some place.

Meanwhile a myriad of plays are setting off,

Backstage, in the shadows, they are not hiding.

Your eyes are just being diverted by trickery, tricks.

Β

Whether it be photography or politics,

The real stories are in the background.

    1. Thank you, Diana. That is so true, we are very easily diverted. Once you are aware there is this staging all around you, you can shift your focus and perceive what matters more clearly.

too right! in real life and in photos the setting can be staged to hide or reveal whichever the artists desires and not the truth itself….clever play of words

    1. Thank you, Gina! I am delighted my words spoke to you. You are absolutely right. Staging is a part of art itself. It is not just used in art though. Realtors use it to sell houses. Politicians to get elected. We have to train our eyes to see beyond what strikes us at first, and realize what is really at stake, when it is important.

Oh how I love original images. The flowers are lovely. Thanks for sharing. And yes, the ‘real story is most likely in the background.’ In this moment however, I’m simply feeling peaceful and serene communing with your images. Thank you!

Such a lovely poem to describe that everything is not what it seemed. The portrayal of events on the media is just a small fraction of what is really happening. Be it politics, world issues or terrorism. There are bigger picture that the viewers are not presented with. We need to constantly seek it out and always question what is the media giving to us. Then, we can be considered a be responsible media consumer.

    1. Thank you for reading and reacting, Izrael. It is much appreciated. You got the gist of it. I agree with you about the big picture, it is important to be observant, curious and to keep a critical yet open mind.
