Divergence

She would grab the bull by the horns
And tell him she needed to talk to him.
She thought she had finally grasped
The meaning of his “beware” warning.

He did not perceive himself as she did him.
He could not give her what she wanted.

So they had to part ways.
No matter how strong the attraction felt.
He was not the one for her.
He could not be.
Not with the way he had been acting.

She knew she deserved to be treated better.

So she would tell him just that.
Hear an explanation or not,
And part ways.

She knew she could not bear keeping him around,
If they were not together.

What she wished for was way too different from their reality.

It would hurt too much comparing what it was
To what it could have been.

With that in mind,
She knocked on his door.

Sorry, but I know this story off by heart, what’s left of it, parting of love and hearts is always so hurtful ……

    1. It is very hurtful, but when it ends it is because it wasn’t meant to be, isn’t it?

I think I may be developing an addictive disorder to your writing. So, very healthy though ❤️

        1. Travelling to other(s’) worlds can be so intriguing, and such a delightfully alluring treat to come back to, when it agrees with you. You are just left wanting more and more. 🙂 Thankfully though, reading can be nothing but healthy.
