In the Seam

We are constantly walking between halls,
of rooms, we can no longer enter
– or cannot yet see –

On a thin thread that ceases to exist,
as soon as we land the next step.

There is no walking back.

No speeding up.

We can use
our experiences,
to tread on more carefully.

We can use our minds to project,
prepare, and better place
our present step.

In the end though, the only reality,
is this shimmering moment
of existence,

we keep blooming in.

In this ever moving bubble
of ticking time, we click

intangible stills,
pearls of cloudy memory
that will fill the closets of our past.

Our present is a stepping stone
to a future we can project,
but never foresee,

as it is not only us,

but a whole world
of present variables
that will come to shape it,

eventually.

We love.

We dream,

Back

and

forth.

We act,

We move on now.

We pursue, we craft, we build.

We live through ever brighter days.

This poem was inspired by the question raised by a dear friend of mine.

“Are you in between
Halls right now? Share with me your
Perspective on life.”

― Manuel Osornio.

Thanks M. for providing an instantaneous dose of inspiration with your post.

Further Food for Thought

More on life, past, present and future, with the fitting words of the brilliant singer of Walk The Line.

“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”

― Johnny Cash

“Beneath the stains of time the feeling disappears, you are someone else I am still right here.”

― Johnny Cash,

We all move at different speeds. Time shifts still. That may be why some connections just can’t stand its stream.

There were two lines that I savoured, “In the end though, the only reality, is this shimmering moment of existence” and the poignant line, “Our present is a stepping stone to a future we can project, but never foresee”, beautiful words.

    1. Thank you so much for reading me ❤ It means the world, Ivor. I am happy to hear you liked it. This poem was incredible to create. It came so naturally and spontaneously in a flow. I just had to rearrange around a bit to create this.

It’s that lovely thrill of seeing words appear on my note pad, without seemingly writing, like the subconscious thoughts are driving the pencil along the lines on the paper……..

I love the way the words are staggered across the screen. You gave them movement, and the reader has no choice but to be carried along with the exquisite flow….surrendering his/her “shimmering moment” to you, and you alone. Bravo!

    1. Merci ❤ I am glad you enjoy the staging of the words on the page. I spent quite a lot of time moving them around and experiencing with them before I settled on this composition.
