Eyes bestow, ears tune
in. As I run, vibrant sun
causes beads of sweat

to simmer on my
reddened skin, on and on I
step – eye-sight flickers.

Focus lost. Ground heaves
under my feet. I tumble.
and regain balance.

Looming fall too close
for comfort, I halt. Breathe in
and walk on. Waving

heart swayed, muscles tense.
Aches wake. Body weeps and screams
in silent gashes.

Pushed too hard.

Yet heading on still.

The solitary pains and pleasure of half-marathon training. Alone with your body and soul, thoughts running free, body alive and exerted, feeling like a tiny ant in the wide open world, filtering through to you with each step.

A flurry of fabulous Haiku (s) – oh so good! The reader is there with you through your vivid words. You manage to convey the personal challenges and I’m happily breathless. I can hear the crunch of ground underfoot, and almost feel my Achilles groan with effort. I’ll be thinking of your words on my morning run; focusing on the pleasure and endorphin high!

    1. Thank you my lovely friend 💕 I am glad I could convey the effort and the sensations of the workout. It is not always that painful though ^^ and you are right the endorphin high is the best 🙂
