Ephemeral Life

– i –

Little shadows
dancing on asphalt screen.
Wings fluttering unseen,

owning the air,
as we are bound to ground.
Tiny weightless bodies,

heaving high and low,
flitting up and down,
gently brushing by,

circling, grazing
disturbed skin, stunned
by foreign touch.

– ii –

A thousand little feet
moving all at once, crawl
in synchronised effort.

Stretching and retracting
– paced strength, proportional
to micro sized flesh.

Petite scavengers feed
on wooden dust,
damp and decayed.

– iii –

Airborne organic matter
swallowed by giant
running mouth.

Teeny ramping beast
burst and spread
Run over by truck.

– iv –

Sun kissed corpse
leaves dried stain
on the ground,

washed away
by flowing water
descending

from the sky
in the fortnight.
Leaving no trace

behind.

– v –

Organic life resorbed,
absorbed back to Earth –
mother core running

an eternal cycle.
